Liquid Motion ProTM is a Java-based animation authoring tool which allows you to integrate images (still or animated), text, and audio into an animation scene, which can be embedded as an applet in a web-page. You can easily create unique and exciting effects for dynamic media scenes, using a variety of interactive triggers, motion behaviors, and timing controls.
Liquid Motion Pro's interactive behaviors allow elements in a scene to respond to mouse-activity in a variety of ways, including playing another element/scene/behavior, toggling the pause state of the animation player, launching a URLLink to another site on the Web, and much more.
For any element in a Liquid Motion Pro animation scene, you can also add a variety of motion behaviors. Define freeform motion paths, (including splined and line paths), or add random motion (e.g., jumping). Liquid Motion Pro also allows you to chain multiple motion behaviors together for an element, each with its own timing.
Liquid Motion Pro also provides timing controls, such as looping (infinite or specified by count), hold periods before and after an element or behavior plays, and setting an element or behavior to play forward, backwards, or in auto-reverse. And, Liquid Motion Pro supports nested scenes, allowing you to embed whole animation scenes within larger scenes, each with their own unique behaviors and timing! You can create a variety of cool special effects with this feature by building a "multi-layered" animation, while still keeping media requirements low.
Liquid Motion Pro is based upon a model of objects which can be manipulated directly by the artist, in the scene. The program is not a key-frame editor, or a cel-animation editor. However, Liquid Motion Pro provides a rich environment for dynamic animation. Although the program is designed as an easy-to-use authoring environment for artists and animators (i.e., non-engineers), the LMPro Motion EngineTM provides an open multimedia architecture for programmers to create new behaviors and effects.
Liquid Motion Pro generates a scene description file, which is a standard text file requiring little overhead. On a published web-page, the LMPro Motion Engine PlayerApplet scans this file, loads the media, and begins to play the described scene.
The scene description file uses a scripting language which can be used directly to create new behaviors and custom effects. However, Liquid Motion Pro is much easier to use for most applications.
NOTE: When saving the .jck scene file, Liquid Motion Pro first creates a TEMP file (named, for example, TMP001.jck), then proceeds with saving the animation with the designated filename. This temporary file provides a failsafe against losing your animation entirely if for some reason your system crashes during the Save process. In that event, your most recent changes would be lost, but the temp file would provide you with an uncorrupted older version of your animation which would still load correctly. This temp file is also useful if an animation has been made a "read-only" file and someone later wants to edit it. They could simply load and edit the temp file created when that animation was originally saved.
When the animation runs, the LMPro Motion Engine PlayerApplet will ensure that all images are loaded before the scene starts. In addition, the defined applet will handle mouse clicks to pause and resume/restart the animation.
